Tribal Fusion with Salwa

For those who never attended "Plume et Poil" a beautiful creation by the surprising Salwa. There is now a chance to see it at the gala show of the Raqs congress. This show is a refreshing fusion of classical singing, hip hop and bellydance.

Salwa was part of the European Bellydance Superstars troupe and is one of Belgium's most refreshing fusion belly dancers. Of Congolese descend, moved from Congo (the still Mobutu's Zaïre) in Brussels when she was 17. There she discoved salsa. In 1998 Salwa started to take oriental dance classes with Gudrun Mahlberg and later on also with Momo Kadous, Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmy, Yousry Sharif, Suhaila Salimpour, Leila Jouvana, Horacio and Beata, Myriam Szabo and Leila Haddad.

Bharata Natyam, classical Indian dance was the next step in her formation alongside classes of flamenco. Soon she created her own style. Workshops with Rachel Brice, Suhaila Salimpour, Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Bellydance gave her the taste of fusion tribal style and American Tribal style.
