'In Harem's Way' was founded in 2005 by company director and choreographer Amira, brancing to the fusion styles late in 2007. They are amoung the first groups in South Africa trained and performing in the style, and have performed at prestigious venues throughout the country to much acclaim. Having received training at international level, IHW has put its own spin on the 'fusion' belly dance styles, adding a proudly South African touch with theire Afro-fusion styles and homage to our musical roots here alongside a solid grounding in the theatre arts and just a hint of dark imagination from the dancer's soul for a unique, unforgettable performance experience.

Assimilating influences from television, fashion and cinema, the trends of hip hop, underground and rock music and modern urban life, the edgy, innovative styles of belly dance falling under the 'tribal' category are fast gaining popularity worldwide. We at 'In Harem's Way' are proud to bring you our very own tribal fusion style, performed with the same passion and grace- and the same unique 'In Harem's Way' touch- as our more traditional styles, and, as ever, we pay proud homage to their own South African roots.
