Heather Stants is one of a kind in the fusion bellydance world. What makes her different is her approach in giving dance classes in fusion style. Her pretty sober outfit. No special headdress, no fluffy stuff and so on. This puts the emphasis entirely on her movements. Heather started giving classes in 1999 in San Diego, teaching her unique approach to tribal belly dance.
Another difference is that her fusion bellydance lessons are interactive. There is a constant energy flowing between the teacher and the students and between the students and the students. The result of this interactivity is always surprizing.
Urban Tribal was one of the first tribal troupes of Southern California. They introduced more "urban" dance styles into their choreography, costumes putting more focus on body movements than the oriental arabesques.
Urban tribal further on used more electronic music as basis and changed so contemporary belly dance.
| Later on that year Heather created the "Urban tribal" dance company, envisioning her ideas of fusion. Urban tribal dance as belly dance company won lots of awards and continues to envision Heather Stants unique approach. Heather Stants did a show at the Tribalondon saturday Night show 2009 togehter with Tribal Bellydance Superstars Sharon Kihara, Kami Liddle, Samantha Hasthorpe, Moria, Wendy Marlatt, Sarah Jeffery-Emrys, Deana Lawman, Steffi Colbert from Barefoot Bellydance, Donna from Pedralta, Ki from Neo Hips, and Hannah from anaRkali.
